"Un-Gala" benefiting Love Your Community Literacy Campaign
Mindful of the busy lives caring people lead, the Island Foundation invites you to. . . stay home, prop up your feet, read, relax, and reflect on the knowledge you are helping make a difference in your community.
Indulge in the absence of:
- The hassle of picking out just the right outfit . . .
- Rubber-chicken dinners . . .
- Long, humdrum speeches . . .
Just relax and enjoy your commitment to help a great cause by helping yourself to a good book! Good for you! Good for us! Many thanks!
While you read, reflect on the empowering role of literacy education. Literacy enables us to achieve goals, to develop knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in society.
Island Foundation supports educational and community interests on Padre Island, and we strive to improve and expand for the benefit of future generations. Island Foundation's Private Education Program, Seashore Learning Center (SLC) and Seashore Middle Academy (SMA), are committed to developing self-esteem, confidence, and social skills, while providing a foundation for a child's high level of academic achievement.
This year, Island Foundation is asking you to Love Your Community by giving a tax-deductible donation toward our literacy campaign, and help us go beyond the textbook. Your donation will improve and expand reading collections and educational materials available in the classrooms and fund book purchases for our developing library. While we welcome all donations, our target amount is $100 per donor, which will help us reach our goal of $20,000.
Your donations make a difference! In 1995 Island Foundation opened SLC with 15 students (Pre-K to 3rd grade). Today, three campuses serve more than 400 students, made possible with tremendous community support. Both SLC and SMA are TEA Exemplary Campuses. Gymnasiums have been completed at both schools, benefiting students and helping facilitate many new community programs!
SLC and SMA are charter schools. They do not get property tax dollars, do not receive funding for facilities and receive $1,800 less per student than traditional independent school districts, and yet still must meet strict, state education standards. Your contribution will help close the funding gap so we can put more books in the hands of our students and empower them for a lifetime.
Please join us in bringing excellence to our community by helping us meet our $20,000 goal. Please check with your employer regarding a donation matching program that could help your generous gift make an even bigger impact on our community.
To contribute: mail checks made payable to Island Foundation, 14493 SPID, #307A, Corpus Christi, TX 78418 or click the Donate button below!
Thank you for helping us to continue bringing excellence in education to children in our wonderful community!!
